School Project

Every child deserves the right to proper education. Unfortunately, many children in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts in Malawi find themselves unable to attend school due to financial circumstances. Their parents cannot afford to pay for their school. This is resulting in many street children who are at a high risk of getting abused or committing child crimes. It is usually these children who do not go to school who find themselves in police cells, prisons of Malawi and enter in forced child marriages.

It is in this line that Youth Coalition for the Consolidation of Democracy with support from PAMODZI TINGATHE a Swiss based organization is scaling up efforts to protect and improve the livelihoods of these poor children through education. YCD has 152 students it is supporting in both primary and secondary schools in Nsanje and Chikwawa districts. We pay school their school fees, give them notebooks and pens every school term. This project intends to increase educational opportunities for poor children in Malawi, thereby helping them develop into active and equal citizens and agents of change that will in the long run spur economic growth for their communities and the nation Malawi.
